Before we get into the post, are you watching The White Lotus, season 3? If so, you’re seeing an incredible portrayal of benzodiazepine abuse.
Benzos are the scourge that almost nobody acknowledges, but The White Lotus shows the prevalence of this potent drug in polite society.
Parker Posey’s character slowly descends into addiction, while her husband, played by Jason Isaacs, attempts to battle major stress by plunging in head first.
Both characters are written and acted impeccably.
Beyond that, I never get tired of watching Uncle Rico’s comeback.

In other news, it looks like the American fentanyl crisis is really, truly, seriously winding down. Amazing news.
We’ve gotten hints this was coming, but the dam has finally broken. According to an analysis at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, led by researcher Nabarun Dasgupta, overdose deaths have fallen in every single state.
Some of the drops are tiny; Western states in particular are not out of the woods yet. But the fact remains: overdose deaths are declining everywhere, and many states peaked three years ago or more.
So, what does this have to do with Donald Trump?
